Curriculum
Our Catholic middle school curriculum sets high academic standars and prepares students not just for high school, but for life. All subjects reinforce the Gospel message in the classroom setting. In addition to Religion, all Academy students pursue an academic curriculum based on five core subjects: English, literature, math, science and history. Students may place into honors courses for English, literature and math. All classrooms have computers and Internet.

Seventh Grade

Keyboarding reviewed and applied, Microsoft Word, Excel and simulation programs

Grammar, vocabulary, writing (paragraphs, letters, research) novels, oral presentations
*Honors English offered at an advanced level

History
American History from exploration to the Jacksonian Era, multimedia approach, note taking and test preparation skills

Language
Introductory Spanish, Introductory French

Life Skills
Physical Education, Study Skills (organization, test preparation, note taking, tutoring, time management)

Literature
Literature as it relates to language, composition, thinking skills, novels, writing workshop
*Honors Literature offered at an advanced level

Mathematics
Decimals, fractions, integers, metric system, solving equations, ratio & proportion, percents
*Honors Mathematics pre-algebra course

Music
Advanced Band, Junior High Choir, Music Appreciation

Religion
Confirmation Preparation Phase 1, weekly liturgies study of the life, values & teachings of Jesus, Church/community service

Science
Earth Materials and Processes, Earth Surface, Water, Air

Arts
Visual Arts - sculpture, painting, drawing, art history, self-portrait
Drama - stage direction, pantomime, improvisation

Eighth Grade
