Academics
Our academic program at Shrine Catholic Grade School is a strong one as evidenced by our recognition as a U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School and by our continuing high Iowa Test scores. Last year our composite score for grades 3-6 averaged in the mid eighties.

Students are taught a core curriculum that includes English, math, reading, science, social studies, phonics, spelling and vocabulary. A strong writing program is implemented across the curriculum. Our Catholic religion is taught on a daily basis with students attending Mass weekly and participating in various prayer services throughout the year. Spanish, art, computer, physical education, music and library classes are taught weekly.

Our new science lab and extensive technology, including interactive Smartboards, offer our students multiple hands on learning experiences.
