Shrine Catholic High School continues its commitment of incorporating technology into the learning experience of each student.
Available Technology
Students and faculty have access to:
- 2 full computer labs
- Ceiling mounted projectors in every classroom
- School-wide access to United Streaming Video
- 30 IBM Thinkpads and 7 Macbooks
- Wireless access throughout the school
- Media Center with high end projector and large screen
- 21 Palm Zires
- Smartboards installed in all science and math classrooms
- Edline access available for parents
- Graphic Arts Lab with the latest PC and MAC equipment including digital video and still cameras with access to Adobe Premiere-Pro, Photoshop, Pagemaker and Apple FinalCut Software
Course Offerings using technology
Computer Literacy
- Students are familiarized with computer technology.
- Students will become skilled in using Office XP: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.
- Students are introduced to PDAs.
- Students who are computer literate may test out of this required course.
Journalism
- Both the Newspaper and Yearbook classes create their publications on IBM Pentiums using Microsoft Word, InDesign and Photo Shop.
- Students have use of a digital camera and scanner.
Art
- The Art Department's use of a Power Mac, Adobe Premier and Photo Shop matches college and university art departments.
- Computer design and the capability to enhance student created videos are available for our student artists.
