Here’s what’s happening this week at Shrine Catholic High School

Monday, December 15

  • The Freshman Class may wear jeans all this week as being the top selling class in the Come Home to Shrine Raffle.   
  • Cafeteria update: ID replacement cards are available in the high school office.  ID cards can be pre-loaded online with check or credit card or you can leave a check in the high school office(made out to TRU FOODS) which will be added to the students lunch account. Checks dropped off at 8am will be loaded to the account in time for lunch that day. Thank you for helping us to make the line move more quickly and efficiently. Lunch today: Loaded Nachos

Tuesday, December 16

  • The Goliards will be performing down in the lobby of the Fisher Building today.
  • Lunch today: Penne with chicken and broccoli
Wednesday, December 17

  • Chess Club meets today after school.  Bring a chess board, bring it along.
  • Lunch today:: Bacon cheeseburger with tater tots
  • DECEMBER 17 – EXPOSITION OF SACRED RELICS: TREASURES OF THE CHURCH  7 pm in the Church.  National Shrine of the Little Flower welcomes you to a teaching and exposition of Sacred Relics.  Over 150 relics will be shown, some believed to be as old as 2000 years.  Among the treasures will be relics of St. Maria Goretti, St. Therese of Lisieux (the “Little Flower”), St. Francis of Assisi, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Thomas Aquinas, and St. Faustina Kowalska.
    In addition, there will also be present a piece of a veil which is believed to have belonged to Our Lady and one of the largest remaining pieces of the True Cross in the world.
    Many people have reported outstanding blessings and conversions through this ministry, and many have reported healings.  Attendees are encouraged to bring their articles of devotion (such as rosaries, holy cards, etc.) and pictures of ill friends/family members which may be touched to the reliquaries as a means of intercessory prayer.Click here for the flyer: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2rpgriaDZkCcEdNTWk1c2dyTjQ/view?usp=sharing

 Looking ahead…

 The Shrine High School Hockey Team’s Annual Holiday Skate Party is Sunday, December 21, from 507pm at the Royal Oak John Lindell Arena.  There is not charge to attend although there is a minimal skate rental charge)  Please join us!


School Resumes, Monday, January 5, 2015

Mid-Term Exams are January 14, 15, 16. A schedule will be posted here soon.  Teachers have been asked to make mid-term study guides available to students before Christmas break.

 World Youth Day information is now available through Christine Wist, our Parish Youth Minister, at cwist@shrinechurch.com! We will leave on Sunday, July 24, 2016 and return on Saturday, August 6, 2016. Cost of the trip is $3595 and includes flights, lodging in hotels and most meals and we will be traveling with Guardian Angels and Fr. Gerry LeBoeuf. The first week will be spent at World Youth Day in Krakow, Poland and then we head to Aushwitz, Wieliczka Salt Mines and Zakopane to name a few! Definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity and we hope you will join us! Space is limited so reservations will be taken on a first come, first serve basis up to December 31, 2014.

ATTENDANCE CALLS- Please note that we have made a change.  ALL attendance calls should go to Mrs. Gleeson, our new Administrative Assistant.  When calling into school, Press 1 to leave a message on the Attendance line. Please leave your son/daughter’s name, grade level and reason for absence.

Shrine Cafe update…  Help make our lunch lines go more quickly by pre-loading funds onto your son/daughter’s account.Students may continue to pay with cash. Checks made payable to TRU FOODS are also acceptable.  In order to use the online payment system,PayForIt.  parents will need their child’s unique student ID number. Parents should have received an email with directions on how to use the online payment along with their son or daughter’s unique ID. If you need any assistance in setting up your account, you can email Mrs. Sawyer at nsawyer@shrineschools.com.

We’ve heard from some of you looking for or wanting to sell textbooks. A Google document has been created that allows you to sell or browse for books.  The school will have no part in collecting or distributing money or books, but wanted to provide a space for people to find additional resources for books.  The link is also posted on the website on the FOR THE PARENTS and FOR THE STUDENTS LINKS.

 ***** Please remember that all students are required to have a current physical on file for the 2014-2015 school year.  The physical must be dated after April 15, 2014 to be current for the 2014-2015 school year.  Also, new students must fill out a concussion awareness form that the school is required to keep on file until the student is 25 years old. 

School Uniform information

New High School uniform shirt option for 2014-2015High School students will have a new uniform option for the 2014-2015 school year.  The navy blue shirts are made of a soft polyester microfiber fabric that wicks moisture away, keeping our students comfortable and dry. They are also treated with an anti-microbial that will inhibit the growth of odor-causing bacteria. The shirts maybe ordered online at Schoolbelles.com or at their retail location on 12 Mile & Southfield Rd,Southfield.  The light blue cotton polo shirt continues as a uniform option and will also be offered in the new microfiber fabric.The new shirts are $32 at Schoolbelles.
