Personal Statement

I used to be intimidated in art class in school. I was creative, but by no means great! I could always help others understand directions, then they “over achieved” with their ideas. This frustrated me terribly until my high school art teacher told me I was great at retelling the directions and helping other students understand. I was GREAT at something! So began my recognized love of teaching art, my passion! At Shrine, I love that I get to see the growth of the students artistically, physically and academically over a span of years! I love being the familiar face (for a couple more years) when our Grade School students begin their adventure at the Academy! I love my bonus year with the High School students, some of whom I've had since 1st grade!
