Personal Statement
As the daughter of two lifelong educators, I initially resisted my natural path to a field in education. Although my years spent in the corporate world focusing on marketing and public relations were enlightening, I knew that being a teacher was my true calling. When I returned to school to pursue my teaching certificate, I immediately knew I had made the correct choice. After spending several years at home raising my children, I recently reignited my teaching career as a part-time Mathematics teacher at Shrine Catholic High School. Teaching is my passion. There is nothing more fulfilling than interacting with young people and helping them understand a difficult concept. That moment when the light bulb goes off is truly exhilarating! I am committed to teaching in a way that shows students how the skills they learn in my class can translate into their success as adults. I am constantly sharing my experiences in the classroom, in the corporate world and as a parent to demonstrate the importance of math in the world. I am motivated every day by the fantastic students I am privileged to teach!
